Obituary of Daniel Howard Sycks

Daniel “Dan” Howard Sycks, age 69, beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, and friend passed away August 24, 2021 in Auburn, Washington of natural causes.
Dan was born in 1952 in International Falls, Minnesota, the fourth child of six children to parents Ernest and Elizabeth Sycks.
Dan was raised in Minnesota and remained there until he graduated from Brainerd High School in 1971. Diving into work, he spent 20+ years at Weyerhaeuser in Valiant, Oklahoma and Everett, Washington as a Boiler Operator. Dan later returned to school to pursue a degree in Ecology and Water Technology through California State University, Sacramento, School of Engineering, as well as obtaining his certification in Wastewater Management and Water Purification at Clackamas Community College. Dan concluded his work life with a 25+ year career with King County’s water treatment division in Tukwila, Washington, retiring at age 66.
Dan will forever be known for his ingenious “custom” inventions, his famous mottos and puns, infectious good energy, incredible sense of humor, laser quick wit, generosity, inclusive kindness, elaborate story telling, and as an exceptionally caring and loving father to his girls.
Dan is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Sycks, five siblings, brother Lonnie/Linda Sycks, sister Dianne/ Tom Atkins, brother Gary/Christine Sycks, sister Patricia/Jim Young, and sister Pamela/Dennis Gates. Daughters, Alyson/Lincoln Wolford and Danielle Sycks. Granddaughters, Lesley Harmon and Rylie Fletcher, 3 great grandsons, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held when it is safe to do so in person.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send them to his mother, Elizabeth Sycks at 28600 Fairway Ln apt #110 Chisago, MN 55013.
