Obituary of Claude Eugene Kammerzell

Claude was born to Alfred and Garnet (Maple) Kammerzell on February 15, 1952.  He grew up in Tacoma, graduated from Stadium high school, and attended Tacoma Community College.

He worked for Tacoma Power as a line electrician for 30 years.  After retirement he taught tai chi at the University Place community center, and produced handmade pottery for the Emergency Food Network "Empty Bowls" fundraiser.  He enjoyed his classes and dear friends at Body&Brain, and every year devoted a large section of the yard to heirloom tomatoes.

Claude loved to travel, and when he had the chance visited Arizona, New York, Canada, Germany, Korea, and New Zealand.

On June 21, 2021, Claude died peacefully at home.  Many thanks to the Franciscan Hospice team, especially Pai Cisneros.

Claude is survived by his brother, Paul; wife of 39 years, Karen Shomshak; daughters Deborah and Abigail.

At Claude's request, there will be no memorial service.  Remembrances may be sent to the Emergency Food Network or Tacoma Opera.

Thirty-nine years of marriage may sound like a long time-- trust me, babe, it was not nearly long enough.
