Obituary of David Edward Pim

David Edward Pim was born July 26th, 1937 in Tacoma, Washington to the parents of Frank and Aura Pim. Dave passed away on June 13th, 2021 at 83 years old with his wife Donelda of 64 years by his side.

After graduating high school, Dad spent a bit of time as a cook before joining the Navy. Upon leaving the Navy, he found his true passion in construction. He first worked for a company, and then he started Pim Construction and ran it with mom until his retirement.

He built our family home in Northeast Tacoma on a farm where sons, Jeff, Gregg, and Kelly were raised. Making sure he taught his boys to fish and garden were very important to him. In addition to his three sons and wife, dad leaves behind five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his dog Indy.

One of his proudest accomplishments was developing and building their retirement property in Gig Harbor. It was their home, retirement plan, and gardener's envy wrapped up in one package. Dad spent countless hours ‘playing’ in his landscape.

Besides gardening, dad’s other favorite hobby was fishing. Just like the three family homes he built, dad spent his entire adult life building and shaping his beloved lake cabin. The land and building took on his vision over many decades, and not only provided him enjoyment and satisfaction but was also enjoyed by many friends and family.

Dad was blessed during his life to travel to many of the lower 48 states, Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. Dad also dearly loved to travel and discover Mexico.

Those of you who knew dad well are aware he was a man of few words, so it was his desire to not hold a service. Please take a moment with your family and enjoy some ice cream because it was dad’s favorite treat.

The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice and the VA for their wonderful and kind work. You can finally rest in peace dad. His wish was to have his ashes scattered at his two favorite places, “the lake” and Mexico. We love you and will miss you very much.
