Obituary of Kathleen Mary Rudolph

 Kathleen Mary (Horn) Rudolph

Kathleen Rudolph passed away March 21 at 77 after a lifetime of service to others. The eldest of seven, Kathy was born on April 7, 1944 and raised in Tacoma, graduating from Visitation School and Mount Tahoma High School. In 1963, she became Carmelite Sister Mary Concepta and worked for 20 years caring for young children and the elderly in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas, and La Mesa, California. In 1983 she left the convent and married John K. Rudolph, settling with him in Mesa, Arizona, where she worked as a caregiver and John as a pharmacist. John passed away in 1993 and Kathy returned to Tacoma and worked as a caregiver until poor health forced her to retire. She was bedridden for her last several years, living at Tacoma Nursing and Rehab, watching over her dear friend and roommate, Vanessa Williams, and maintaining an active membership in St. Ann's Parish. Kathy loved reading history and delighted in making small donations to numerous Catholic and environmental causes. She is survived by good friend, Vanessa Williams, faithful cousins Daniel and Ramona Sorensen, sisters Janice Tillman and Dianne Kerwin (Paul) of Tacoma, brothers Rick Horn of Lakewood, Brian Horn (Mary Harper) of Kent, and David Horn (Joe Vanamathin) of Seattle, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy was preceded in death by sister Colleen Horn and parents Elmer (Pete) and Bonnie Jean Horn.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 8:00 am on Wednesday, March 31 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7025 S. Park Ave., Tacoma, preceded at 7:30 am by a Rosary, and followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery, 5212 South 70th Street, Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the National Wildlife Federation or the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs.
