Obituary of Chanelle Cassandra Charon

On the evening of May 20th 1986, Joseph and Sandra Charon were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Not knowing the gender of the baby on that day, it would take three days to decide that she would be Chanelle Cassandra. Joseph presented the name Chanelle and Sandy thought it was very unique and beautiful which Chanelle would prove to be.

One year and one day later her brother Michael was born. Their childhood was full of outings to their grandpa’s cabin at Summit Lake, spending time at Twanoh State Park finding oysters and clams on the beach and frequent family campouts all over the state. Her love of everything outdoors stayed with her into adulthood and almost everyone can remember at least one amazing river float she was a part of.

At a young age Chanelle expressed an interest in art by “decorating” her walls with drawings, but that grew into an amazing talent of creating beautiful handmade crafts. Not to mention her talent for face painting, her own as well as the kids at any birthday or holiday celebration.

In 2009 Chanelle found out she would be a mother. When Sadie was born in February of 2010, Chanelle stepped into the role of motherhood naturally and was instantly the fierce independent mother we all know her to have been. Sadie brought so much joy to Chanelle and always inspired her to be a strong and resilient mama. This new role may have been the blessing that would compel Chanelle, like many mothers, to start capturing any, and all moments on camera. We are all grateful to have this legacy of photographs that she left behind.

When Sadie began attending kindergarten, Chanelle decided to attend school as well and become a phlebotomist to gain a career that would proudly support herself and her daughter. Chanelle started by studying for and obtaining her G.E.D. then she applied to and eventually graduated from PIMA Medical Institute. Her academics paid off when Chanelle began a job at U.W. Medicine in Seattle. This was not only a job for her, but a passion for her patients as well as her family of coworkers. Unfortunately, it was not long before her health would not allow her to work in a hospital, however, this would become an opportunity for Chanelle to make a whole new family of friends, that meant a great deal to her, at her new job in retail at Costco.

In the early morning of December 12th, 2020, with her family by her side, Chanelle lost her battle with Leukemia which she so valiantly fought. She is survived by her mother and father, Sandra and Joseph Charon; brother, Michael (Magan) Charon; sister, Brandy (Ben) Heard and daughter, Sadie Molthen.

Sandy always called Chanelle her “shining star” which was appropriate because she had a light that lit up the world. Everyone who met her was warmed by her smile, her energy, and her love of life. From Halloween parties to amazing football food, Chanelle loved to celebrate. This was especially true for her “birthday month” which always ends in a joint birthday party with her brother Michael.

You may share your stories of remembrance at a celebration of life gathering to be held near her birthday in May of 2021. Further details will become available closer to the date.

We could not be more saddened by the loss of this beautiful soul, however, all she touched are inspired to honor her legacy by living life to the fullest, celebrating everything and always taking a picture.
