Obituary of Miriam Bertha Holcomb

Miriam Bertha Holcomb was born April, 1925 in Tacoma, Washington. She passed away peacefully at home on December 6, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Eli Kvamme (Riveness). They had recently emigrated from Norway at the time of Miriam’s birth. She was also preceded by her brothers Olaf Kvamme (Aileen) and John Kvamme (Brith), and her sister Esther Finley (Dale).

Miriam is survived by sons Michael Holcomb (Aimee) and Fred Holcomb (Karen), daughter Eileen Blaszak (William), as well as her sister Ruth Fordice (Richard) and brother Donald Kvamme (Janet). She is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Fife High School, she lived in Hong Kong, Okinawa, Idaho, Los Angeles, and Washington DC before settling permanently in Tacoma in 1970. Miriam was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She loved traveling, knitting, cooking, and was an avid reader. She was an essential presence at all ­­­­extended family occasions.

Miriam’s selfless and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She will live forever in our hearts.

A memorial will be held at a later date.
