Obituary of Josef Andrew Cunningham

Josef A. Cunningham

June 19, 2003- December 8, 2020

Josef Cunningham, born in Tacoma, WAashington, died suddenly and unexpectedly on the evening of December 8, 2020 at the age of 17.

He was a happy, smiling boy who brought joy to everyone who knew him. Every day he played his favorite movies, Cookie Monster’s Best Bites and C is for Cookie. He loved laughing, pranks, and anything to do with water. In summer, he would be content just hosing water all over himself in the backyard of his home in Fircrest. He enjoyed swimming, swinging, riding around with Dad, bike club, and playing on the FOSS Unified Sports basketball team. Josef made a few baskets each game and every time he did the crowd would cheer and the joy and pride he felt was evident on his face. Josef enjoyed being in pro start cooking class at Foss. He loved Disneyland and going for his daily walks with his grandma. He looked forward to spending Saturday nights with Grandma and Pop-pop at their house. Josef loved being with his Uncle Leonard and Auntie Joanne and especially loved the trips to Dairy Queen for his favorite Blizzard treat. Josef will be missed by his parents, Bradley and Julie, and his twin sister Mollee. His grandparents; John and Marsha Cunningham, Joseph and Sharon Carl, and Patricia Stamper. Aunts and uncles; Leonard and Joanne Richardson, Jonathan Cunningham, Ian and Johnine Stokes, and

Saul and Kathie Stokes. Cousins; Dashawn, Natasha, Ellie, Sidney. Many other extended family members who loved him tremendously. Missing Josef are his teachers that we appreciate, Ms. Falconer, Ms. Lee-Ann, and numerous caring staff that ensured he got to school safely and made the most of it while there. We know three people that he loved deeply, Sashi, Janessa and Don are grieving his passing. Thank you so much.

The family would like to acknowledge the efforts made by Tacoma Fire and the emergency team at Mary Bridge for Josef.
