Obituary of Elfriede Eva Kirk

Elfriede (Frieda) Eva Kirk passed away at the age of 84 on Friday, Oct. 23 surrounded by her husband, William, of 52 years and children.  She first came to this country at the age of 18 from the small Bavarian town of Bamberg, Germany.  Having grown up during WWII, she had a fierce work ethic, coupled with a dynamic personality.  Always the life of the party, she was never afraid to hit the dance floor, having once taught ballroom dance at Arthur Murray Dance Schools.  She also spent numerous years running the Albertsons bakery in Kent and White Center, where she first met her husband as he was shopping for groceries.  Frieda also had a love of sports and was known to be up at all hours to watch her beloved Bayern Munchen play soccer from Europe, and over the years made numerous trips to Pullman with her family to cheer for the WSU Cougars.  The Tennis Channel was also regularly on in her living room, as she followed all the major tournaments.

Her exuberant spirit will be missed by all who knew her.  Frieda is survived by her husband, William Sr., son William Jr. and daughters Monika, Heidi and Kristina, along with six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Wir lieben dich Frieda!

A viewing will be held at Edwards Memorial in Federal Way from 10:00 – noon on Wednesday, November 4th, with the burial scheduled to follow at Tahoma National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org/donate)  or the Seattle Humane Society (www.SeattleHumane.org).
