Obituary of Lorraine Catherine Lewis

Lorraine Catherine ( Harkness) Lewis was born in Tacoma, WA. July 26, 1923 and passed away peacefully on September 12, 2020, 97 years of age. She married Curtis M. Lewis Sr. and raised a family of six children. He preceded her in death in 1970. Later in life she met Allen Maul. Lorraine was known by many names, Lorraine, Mom, Grandma Bah, GG Bah. A progressive woman, accepting everyone as family no matter their story. Life long resident of Tacoma. She graduated from St. Leo's High School, where she continued as a long time Parish Member.Lorraine started her working career at Puget Sound National Bank and after raising her family she worked for the Tacoma School Dist..Our Mother enjoyed dinners out and a good Manhattan with family and friends. The Matriarch of our clan, the life of the party, and just like her "many candles"was a bright light in many lives. She enjoyed family trips to the Hoh River Cabin, where she spent many hours listening to Frank Sinatra and big band music while cleaning, organizing and planning a card game of "May I". She was known as the "May I Queen". Of course all this could not happen without a large pot of homemade chili cooking away.Lorraine is survived by her children, Marianne (Carsten) Rasmussen, Curtis M. Lewis Jr., Scott ( Michele) Lewis, Mark (Sonia) Lewis, Craig Lewis and Melissa (Dave) Holcombe. 12 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren, also her sister Jackie M. Hagen. Our family would like to thank Living Life Care Center in University Place for their care in her final years. We will all miss her, but have many great memories ,stories and good times we had together. As Lorraine would say, "Getting old is for the birds".
