I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to all Andy’s family and friends. During the 1970’s, Andy came to Perth, Western Australia, with his friend Stephen. They had taken months crossing Asia to reach Australia from Europe (with lots of adventures that made for funny stories). Andy’s granny was my great aunt Bertha, a much loved aunt. My mother is Margaret Irene, daughter of Bertha’s half brother, Thomas Idris Llawddogg Evans.
During his time with us, Andrew was like a big brother to me. I was an awkward, shy teenager. Andy took me under his wing and coaxed me along to rugby matches and the pub afterwards where Andrew would lead the singing. He was always great fun. He left Perth after falling for an American girl. Sadly, we lost touch but I have never forgotten him and his kindness to me and have often wondered how life was with him, especially when watching rugby matches! I am sad but pleased to have found this loving obituary.

Andy remains an inspiration to me and a true role model. He is the main reason I wanted to work for the City of Tacoma. Just like Shanta, I know many contractors and engineers who were helped-by and really enjoyed working with Andy.

We all have such great memories of Andy at the City of Tacoma - BLUS/PDS. I for one, could listen to his wonderful accent all day, everyday! Over the years I've met many contractors and engineers that told me how much they respected and appreciated Andy's work with the City We even have an engineer that specifically joined the City to work with Andy as a colleague.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Andy's daughters at his retirement gathering with City folks. The saying - "your family is your legacy" is especially true for Andy!
For now......Until we meet again, my friend.

Thank you Andy for making me laugh! You still do, whenever something reminds me of your presence.
Work brought us together and from then on it was never really work. Lots of work got done, however life and stories were always woven into that experience. My time with you was so meaningful as I watched you lighten whatever burden someone was carrying. I always wondered who lightened yours. You added so much spice to everyday life at work.
It's not always easy for me to let people into my world, however you inspire me to try with each person I meet. While working with you in Tacoma over the years and most recently at the City of Tacoma, through each project you lived a life of service to building relationships while Building Tacoma. I'll soon be taking a drive with you around Tacoma and visit the buildings you worked on and hear more of your stories.
Andy, you left your mark - in many forms it lives on!
Thank you.
