Obituary of Sue Jeanne Marie Rawlings

On Friday, July 24, 2020, Sue Jeanne Marie Rawlings passed away at the age of 71 after a three-and-a-half-year battle with breast cancer.

Sue was born May 16, 1949, to James (39) and Jeanne (30) Rawlings in Tacoma, WA.  She graduated from Aquinas Academy in 1967, and soon after went to work as a paralegal and legal assistant for the next several decades, then as an office manager before retiring, including: McCormick, Hoffman, Rees & Faubion; Gordon Thomas Honeywell Malanca Peterson & Daheim; Harlowe & Hitt; and lastly the Pierce County Executive's Office.

In the early 70s until 1979 she was married to Chuck Lund, a US military helicopter pilot, and was a stepmother to his son Chris.  In 1986, she gave birth to her daughter Jamie.

Sue had a passion for reading, gardening, traveling, and camping.  She also enjoyed playing bingo with her sisters, as well as her annual trips to Hawaii with her daughter.  Sue was known for her dry sense of humor, kind smile, and compassionate spirit.  She was deeply loved by those who knew her.  Sue's spirit and companionship will be profoundly missed by family and friends alike.

Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanne in 1983, and her father, James in 1989.  She is survived by her daughter, Jamie; her siblings, Jan, Cathy (John), Kim, Jim (Kathy), Keri (Tom), Kay (Dan); and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Due to the unprecedented nature of COVID a funeral service will not be held at this time.  The family is planning to hold a celebration of life around her birthday in May of next year.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to MultiCare's Hospice and Palliative Care or Oncology Program, or a charity of your choice.
