Obituary of Ronald Edward Barnes

Ronald (Ron) Edward Barnes of Enumclaw, WA died April 19, 2020 at the CHI Franciscan Hospice House in University Place, WA. He was born September 15, 1950 in Findlay, OH to Rolland J. Barnes and Ruby A (Bassitt) Barnes. He graduated from Adrian, MI High School in 1968 and attended Michigan State University for two years before joining the US Army and serving from 1971-1974. He married Carol S Heilman November 14, 1971 in Rudolph, OH and they explored Europe while stationed in Germany. After his tour of duty, he continued his education and received his BA Accounting degree at Adrian College, Adrian, MI in 1976. He received his CPA certification and his career in tax accounting led him to positions with Boron Oil Company, Detroit, MI; Standard Oil Company, Cleveland, OH; Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Toledo, OH; Weyerhaeuser Company, Federal Way, WA; The Boeing Company, Seattle, WA and the Ste Michelle Wine Estates, Woodinville, WA.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carol and their daughters, Erin Barnes, Enumclaw; Laura & Donnie McMasters, and grandsons Chaz & Riley, Tacoma, WA and Sarah & Steve Strang, Bonney Lake, WA. Also surviving him are his mother, Ruby, Bowling Green, OH; brothers Randy & Maria Barnes, Napoleon, OH; Ric and Rita Barnes, Clayton, MI and sister Robyn & Max Morden, Verona, NJ.

Ron was stricken with Transverse Myelitis shortly after his retirement in 2017. Although the disease greatly changed his life, he fought courageously and continued to travel and live life to the fullest.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Enumclaw, WA when arrangements can be made. The family will travel back to Ohio/Michigan to have a celebration of life gathering with family and friends there.
