Gregory Peter Sawicki, 73 of Puyallup peacefully passed away March 25th. Born to Alex and Sherri Sawicki on October 27, 1946 in Illinois, US and shortly thereafter moved to Ontario, Canada where he spent his childhood.

One of Greg’s fond childhood memories was playing hockey. He often boasted that when hit in the mouth with a puck he spat his teeth out on the ice and kept playing!

At 18 he joined the US Air Force, followed by the Army where he became passionate about flying helicopters and had opportunities to explore the world. He risked his life as a test pilot in the Vietnam war and fulfilled service for his country as a Warrent Officer before retiring with Honors.

The PNW became Greg’s home in 1976. He worked hard supporting his family while moving towards his Master’s degree which he gained from the University of Puget Sound.

Greg went on to join the Boeing Company where he utilized his education and experience to educate in Engineering and Avionics. In his spare time he would tutor children.

He was proud that later in life he was able to acquire Canadian citizenship.

Despite his early struggles in life Greg was known for his strength, bravery and desire to educate and improve himself. He was well versed in a wide range of topics, had a passion for computing and a smart business sense. Greg enjoyed walking and devotedly tended to his vegetable garden, often giving the abundance to neighbors and the Tacoma Rescue Mission.

Greg is survived by his Daughter Justine Bryson, Grandsons Egan & Kai Bryson, Loving Partner Terri Covell of 28 years, Younger Brother Joesph Sawicki and Niece Terri Sawicki.
