Obituary of Jerry "JC" Curtis

Jerry “JC” Curtis was born the youngest of five on March 12, 1939 to Robert D. “Darrell” and Irene K. Curtis, in Troy, Ohio. He left this life for his heavenly home on March 11, 2020 the day before his 81st birthday, in Tacoma, WA, with his family by his side.

Jerry married Karen (Anderson) Parks in June 1982. They were lured to the Northwest by family, moving to Seattle, WA in 1984 leaving Hobart corp where Jerry had worked for 25 years. Jerry began working at Puget Sound National bank before beginning his career as a computer consultant with Serena Software which sent him all over the country and prepared him to open his own JC Consulting company years later. Jerry always enjoyed the people he worked with and had stories to tell of his interesting experiences. He worked with the Tacoma School district until he was 69 and 1/2 years old, and finally officially retired.

Jerry loved motorcycles and actively rode with the Coastal Cruisers of Tacoma (Brothers of the Third Wheel). He and Karen could be found taking trips together on whatever cycle Jerry had at the time—they even spent their honeymoon traveling on a Harley.

In 1992 Jerry was part of the team that built a replica of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge for the Tacoma Zoo Lights Display.

In his later years, Jerry enjoyed spending time on his deck that he and grandson Adam built or in his home office on his computer. He always had a dog at his feet or in his lap.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Karen, sons Robert and Chris, step-children Chuck, Jon, Bob and Kari, and numerous grand and great grandchildren. His daughter Sherry, predeceased him in 2016. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
