Obituary of Maria Rita Martinez

Maria Rita Martinez, born August 27, 1935, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side where she lived in Gig Harbor, WA, with her husband, John B. (J.B.) Martinez, on February 6, 2020.
Rita was born and raised in Golondrinas, New Mexico and later moved to Denver, Colorado in 1960. Rita and J.B. were married on May 29, 1964. They were blessed with over 55 years of marriage. Rita was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted homemaker. Her quiet nature and gentle humor were her gifts to those of us who were closest to her.
Rita is survived by her husband, John B. (J.B.) Martinez; daughters, Twila Hamel and her husband Patrick; Joylyn Davis, husband John Davis III, grandson John Davis IV and granddaughter Stella. She is also survived by her sisters, Mercy Martinez, Clara Marquez (Tony), and brother Faustin Martinez as well as nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Josefita Maes Martinez; brothers Arturo Martinez and Felipe Martinez; sisters Dolores Vigil, Theresa Melendez, Angie Baca, and Juanita Lucero.
Her kind, quiet spirit will be missed but will always be in hearts.

Catholic services will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Gig Harbor, Washington.
