Obituary of Apolonio Cruz DeLos Santos

This obituary shares the life and beliefs of Apolonio Delos Santos a beloved father and grandfather.  It’s an excellent example of how to honour a man that was a strong foundation for his family.

Apolonio Delos Santos passed away on Saturday October 12, 2019 after reaching the age of 80 years old. After months of failing health, he died peacefully with all his family and loved ones by his side.

Apolonio was born on September 4, 1939 in the Philippines. When his mother died,  As a boy he lived mostly with his brother and uncles  working odd jobs to support himself.

Apolonio went through the Japanese invasion era and was only able to complete 2nd grade.

As a very young man in a poor country with no education he learned to work hard and to take on whatever job was available to support himself. He worked for his brothers and uncle to earn money, he sells bottles, and whatever is necessary to survive.

In 1954, he met the love of his life, Ramona Recide (Delos Santos). They are together for over 65 years and had 7 kids.

In 2001, Apolonio’s daughter Teodora Ball was able to petition him to go to united states along with his wife Ramona.

Apolonio worked hard as a cook, dishwasher and dietary in Washington not only to provide for his family in the US but also for all his family in the Philippines (kids and grandchildren).

Apolonio was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them, a loving grandfather and “great-grand” father to many.

A man who never cared much about himself and doesn’t like to be a burden to anyone and who even in his final days would say to his loved ones, “just to take care of “Nanay” when I’m gone”. Apolonio was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many!
