Obituary of Frank Patrick Blacker
Frank Patrick Blacker
1937 – 2019
Frank was born in October 1937, in Corvallis, OR, the oldest of three, and passed away August 25, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; daughters Tami O’Connell, Ginger (Brad) Harris and Kim Tully; five grandchildren, Ryan and Erica O’Connell, Emily Kitts, and Chad and Greg Tully; and by his siblings Richard (Margot) Blacker and Dottie (Bob) Abernethy. He also has a wonderful community of extended family and friends.
He graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in food technology and served as an Infantry office in the US Army. He found his professional calling in Human Resources and his passion in contributing to his community through church and serving on boards that included the Federal Way Symphony and Centerstage Theatre.
He traveled the world with Mary and other family members, living in Germany for two years and visiting innumerable locations throughout the US and Europe and Asia. He lived life fully, introducing a love of adventure in his 3 daughters with activities such as camping, canoeing, hiking and cross-country skiing and always enjoying a full array of activities with his friends and relatives.
He touched so many people with his steadiness, insightful personality, solid decision-making and dose of dry humor. Frank provided the right balance of fun and calm and we all celebrate this remarkable man who made our lives richer.
The celebration of his life will be held at 2pm, Saturday, September 7, at St Matthew's Church, 6800 East Side Dr NE, Tacoma, WA 98422.
