Obituary of Bennie Lee Simon Jr.
Bennie Lee Simon Jr. was born on October 12,1976 to Roberta Gookin and Bennie Simon Sr. in Brooklyn, NY.
He moved to Washington as a toddler but was always proud to say he was from New York.
Bennie had a zest for life and loved coaching and mentoring youth. He volunteered at the Al Davies Boys & Girls Club.
Coached boys football and girls basketball but mostly it was all about helping the community and the kids.
He would buy cleats or other equipment that kids needed out his own pocket. He mentored and made a difference in so many lives.
He was a GREAT guy and a kid at heart! He loved his family and friends they meant everything to him, oh and the New Orleans, Saints.
Bennie is survived by his father Bennie Simon Sr., his mother Roberta Strickland, step father Roland Strickland, his brothers Maurice, Andre and Tyree Simon,
Sister Leticia Jenkins, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and his twin babies Angelo and Grace, they are his legacy.
Bennie had so many friends and was a great guy one of the real ones with a huge heart and a passion for sports, he will be missed.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on July 17th, 2019 at Edwards Memorial Lakewood Chapel, 11020 South Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499. Funeral Service will be held on July 18th, 2019 at 1:00pm at Edwards Memorial Lakewood Chapel, 11020 South Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499. There will be a potluck style gathering at Bennie Simon Sr's house following the ceremony.
