Obituary of Audrey Phyllis Sanders

Audrey Phyllis (Hope) Sanders, 91, left to be with our Lord on June 6, 2019. Mom was born in Tacoma WA December 3rd, 1927 to Carl and Audrey Hope. She married our father, Duane Sanders in May 1949. Together they had 3 children, Mark (Lill), Chris and Lea; 3 grandchildren Sarah (Shane), David and Andrew and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her older brother Carlton, her younger sister, Donna and our father, Duane after 66 years of marriage.

Mom spent all of her life in Tacoma, where she and Dad made their life. Mom worked at GR Kirk Co in downtown Tacoma until she gave birth to brother, Mark. From that time forward she was a devoted and loving mother caring for all of us. Mom and Dad were quite the adventurers. With the 3 of us in tow we went on many adventures ranging from rock hunting at places in the northwest, fishing in various rivers and lakes and traveling to visit family throughout the US. She was a lifelong member of Hope Lutheran church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Mom loved music. Opera was her very favorite. We can still hear her singing along with the Opera Madame Butterfly. We have fond memories of hearing her favorite Tenors singing away on the stereo as she worked around our home. Friday nights were always special. Friends were always welcome to stay and enjoy taco night. Everyone pitched in to make dinner and give mom a break on taco night. Mom loved her family and friends and she will be forever missed.

Special thanks to all the caregivers that cared for both mom and dad over the years. A special note of appreciation to Jen, Alex & Trace; they were ever faithful in mom and dad’s care. Mom so loved her family and they meant the world to her. We miss our daily phone calls and she will be greatly missed by everyone. Contact the family for additional information.
