Obituary of Carolie Josephine Bowers

Carolie Josephine (Abrams) Bowers

1/29/27 – 5/11/19

The angels sang, the triumphs blew and heaven’s gate opened as Jesus took my mother’s hand and said welcome home.

Mom was born in Milwaukee WI. to Vera Agnes Mann & Thomas Griggs Abrams on Jan. 29, 1927 and grew up in Dearborn MI. Mom met our dad while attending Lasell College in Auburndale, Massachusetts. They met on a blind date and the rest is history. They married on September 19, 1946 at Martha Mary Chapel in Greenfield Village in Dearborn MI.

After they were married dad brought mom out west where he opened up Sepulveda Pet Hospital and started a family shortly after arriving in California. Mom & Dad were married 46 wonderful years before his death in February of 1992.

Mom loved life, family and enjoyed working as a wedding coordinator for 10 years at the church she was attending. Our mom was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and prayed for all that they might come to know Jesus.

Mom is the direct descendant of Jonathan Henry Mann & Julianne Haller who migrated from Germany in 1824 and was one of the first settlers in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband Frederick U. Bowers ll, grandson Edward F. Ross, her parents Vera Agnes (Mann) Abrams & Thomas Griggs Abrams, brother Robert Abrams, sister Elizabeth (Abrams) Wilson.

Surviving are Elizabeth (Bowers) Lisicich daughter, husband Joseph, Frederick U. Bowers lll son, wife Ruth, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

I want to thank Sharon & Jovanni owners of Narrows Place AFH, Jared, vedial and Eric & Jane for their countless hours of taking care of mom in her final day and to Laura Marquiss who was mom’s companion taking her to doctor’s and hair appointments or just visiting and to the Franciscan Hospice nurses.

In closing, I will quote what my mother said as we ended our phone conversation each time. “May God Bless You and Keep You in His Care”

Graveside service will be held on August 10, 2019, 1:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery – 5212 – 70th St. West Tacoma W
