Obituary of La'Trevia Donyett Davenport

Our Beloved “Warrior Queen” La’Trevia Donyett Davenport, affectionately called Dawn; was born on July 3, 1971 in Wichita, Kansas to Glenda (Lowe) Mitchell and Howard Turner.

Even at a young age her caring, kindness, and compassion for others was evident, as she always sought to look after others. Dawn’s strong sense of independence, courage and tenacity was also evident, although she was sometimes referred to as a “Ms. know it all”. She would defend those she loved without hesitation.

When Dawn loved, she gave her all and contributed her best. She would act selfish, only because she thought she was doing the right thing. LOL! She could be very bullheaded, even though she was mushy. She had her own rules, but if you worked on her, long enough you could finally get her to give in.

Dawn attended East High School in Wichita Kansas and Clover Park High School in Lakewood WA where she graduated. She also attended and graduated from Vernon's Kansas School of Cosmetology.

Dawn was masterful with “All Things Hair” and was highly consulted by family, friends and industry professionals alike. Equally, her innovation and creativity flourished in her crocheting/knitting creations. Her high quality custom designs led her to formulating her own craft business “Creations At Hand”.  Dawn was also, known for her baking skills! She made some of the most scrumptious cakes, pies, cupcakes, and cookies. Her lemon, chocolate, strawberry, orange, peanut butter cakes and cupcakes, as well as her chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies left an everlasting impression on all who have eaten them. Her gumbo and her hot wings, which be called blazing fire wings, were two of her signature dishes.

Dawn’s patience and belief that everyone should get the benefit of doubt, led her to be a confidant to many. Her faith and trust in Jesus was evident, yet she respected and supported the religious beliefs of others.

Her ability to fight numerous battles with cancer and maintain that beautiful smile and the “I’m fine” demeanor, while taking care of her family’s needs gives further credence to the “Warrior Queen” title. To all she encountered, they immediately knew they had a true friend.

She transitioned from earth to Glory on May 10, 2019. Her maternal grandparents: Juanita Lowe “Mama Lowe”, and paternal grandparents: Arthur Lee Turner, Leverita Turner, Shizuko Okabe Andrews; her aunt, Wanda Lowe, her uncle, Stanley Lowe, her mother in love Gloria Davenport and her brother in love Danny Davenport preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 27 1/2 years: John Davenport, her one and only daughter: Ayasha Davenport, her sons: Brandon Robinson, Jahmel(Kyleigh) Davenport, Jalen Davenport, her granddaughter: Nayomme Davenport, her mother’s: Glenda (Lowe) Mitchell, Gwendolyn Turner, her father: Howard Turner,  her sister: Sharlynn Mitchell, her brothers: Aaron Scott, Howard Turner, Shane Mitchell, Shawn(Jasmine) Mitchell, Jason Haney,  her sisters in loves: Cassandra Davenport, Sheila Davenport, Gloria(Tracy) Banks, her aunts: Myra Turner, Tina(James) Banks, Kaye Forsythe, Twila Mayo, Margene Kearns, Mary Andrews, her uncles: Keith Turner, Arlandus(Barbara) Lowe, John Turner  Philip Bess,  Patrick Turner, Tony Bess, Thirteen nieces, Eight nephews, One great-niece, Two great nephews, many cousins, family and friends.
