Obituary of Steven Robert Parks

Olympia -- Steven Robert Parks, age 69, died unexpectedly on May 4, 2019 after a brief illness and emergency surgery.

Steve is survived by his spouse of 45 years, Lois Brown Parks; their five children, Harmony Parks, Solina Parks Krickovich, Barbara Parks Morris, Elisha Parks, and Steven Gabriel Parks, their fourteen grandchildren, Benjamin, Ruth, Nina-Joy, Sarah, Rebecca, Michael, Ricardo, Joseph, Emily, Serenity, Ryker, Samantha, Liticia, and Maximus and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Douglas, and Owen. He also leaves behind his siblings, Bill Meredith, Kevin Parks, and  Jan Parks Jensen with their respective families and many dear friends from over the years.

Steve was born on March 1, 1950 to Alice Ramsey in Denver, Colorado, and was adopted and raised from infancy by Rebecca L. Harris Parks and Robert B. Parks. He grew up moving periodically between the east and west coasts, and was a precocious child, but spent most of his adult years in upstate New York and western Washington.

Steve served his country honorably in Vietnam, enlisting on the Fourth of July following his 17th birthday. He met the love of his life the same year that he was discharged from the military, and they were married within a few weeks after they met. Steve has been described in many ways: eccentric, adventurous, passionate, ingenious, curious, caring, and stubborn, to name a few. He appreciated music, stories, art, nature, cultures, and variety everywhere he found it. He was a warrior, husband, parent, revolutionary, politician, salesman, entrepreneur, inventor, mechanic, hippie, environmentalist, beekeeper, artist, storyteller, artisan, craftsman, pastor, medicine man, upholsterer, chemical technician, counselor...and the list goes on. He specialized in restoration.

On May 23, at 1:30 pm he will be honored as a Vietnam veteran and his ashes interred at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery.
