Obituary of Dona Clarinda Pfeifer

Dona Clarinda Pfeifer (Hagen)

July 4, 1940 – March 10, 2019

Dona will always be remembered for her love of family and never-ending support of her grandchildren Hunter, Gaven, Jack, Max, Hudson and Myla.

Preceding her in death were her parents Naff and Dorothy Hagen (Case). The unique spelling of her name is derived from the first 2 initials of her loving parent’s names.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gordon Pfeifer;

her children Kris (John) Jorgenson, Diana Haley, and Mark (Erin) Pfeifer; her brother Jim (Joanne) Hagen and numerous extended family, dear friends and neighbors.

Dona graduated from Stadium High School.

She worked hard throughout her life at various companies including Walker Chevrolet, Carling Brewery, Vincent’s Appliance and ultimately retiring from the Tacoma Public School District.

Dona delighted in the majesty of Mount Rainier, which she coined, “My Mountain”.

The sight of an eagle in the sky or a deer on the golf course were a thrill to her.

She was proud of her Fircrest heritage and would often be seen walking through town and enjoying coffee with friends (not to mention hopping on her bike to chase down a fire truck in action).

Dona was a huge Nascar fan!

She loved people and had a quiet selflessness about her. Her strength was evident in her dedication to others, in her focus on family and especially in her final years as she battled dementia.

Dona is described by those who knew and loved her as:

SELFLESS, always putting other’s needs above hers.

DEDICATED, she baked cookies for 35 years for her husband to bring to his weekly visits to the nursing home where he played cards with the residents. She was at every school/sporting event for her children and grandchildren. She took time to visit cousins, friends, and aunts and uncles.

PROMPT, abiding by the rule; “On time is 10 minutes early”.

JOYFUL, SWEET and KIND, her smile and laughter were contagious.

She was an amazing wife, mother and Nonie! The twinkle in her eyes always shown brightest when she was with her grandchildren.

She lived with a strong faith, a positive presence and integrity.

Dona’s joy, smile and kindness touched all that knew her.
