Forrest Stephenson

Obituary of Forrest Wesley Stephenson

Born in Tacoma WA November 1, 1941. Lived in University Place WA.

 

Was one of twelve children born to Fred and Violet Stephenson.

 

He atteneded Temple Baptist Church as a child and into his adult years. He was saved at a summer camp held at Camp Glendawn at age 13 

 

Graduated from Clover Park High School in 1959.

 

Attended an Art College in California for a short time and also worked for Disney Studios, then joined the Navy in May of 1960. He received training as a machinist and served on the destroyer tender USS Prairie for most of his Naval service.

 

He worked as a machinist and also went to Texas and worked on a farm harvesting silage for a cattle ranch.

 

He worked for the Burlington Northern railroad for 16 years as a brakeman. His career there ended in an accident where he fell off a flat car and broke his back.

 

He was married to Mickie for 14 years and remained faithful to that commitment until Mickie's death in 2006.

 

After healing from that injury, he came back into fellowship with the church and pursued careers that fell in line with his spiritual gift of service including janitorial work at Temple and working with metally disabled kids through Catholic Community Services. He worked as a handyman repairing things, often for little or no money as a service to friends and family.

 

He enjoyed singing and was involved with groups at both the Christian church and Temple Baptist.
