Dennis and I met at a dinner party last year at Chuck Swan & Merland Grieb's house and we hit it off immediately. I worked for Marriott for many years and we HAD to share stories about a few stinkers we knew who worked for both of our companies. Dennis's sense of humor and gift of gab kept me in stitches for hours at several of these dinners and during additional phone calls. My last favorite story with Dennis was about an overnight sleep study experience he had this past summer - it was a story very familiar to my own but I could never have imagined all of the things that happened to him that night which he conveyed with such gusto and humor. He could have done a stand-up comedy routine about it. Dennis also loved dogs and my dog, Riley, made him smile a lot at those dinner parties. At his funeral yesterday, 'Ave Maria' was sung so beautifully and I know he would have loved that. For those who put the memorial together, thank you!! I love and miss you, Dennis!

Dennis, you will be missed. You were a friend for probably 38 years of your 43 years with Northwest. Just sorry your saturday trip on Amtrak to have lunch in Portland did not take place. Wish we could make your service but that is not possible. Your mass is at St. James, the church that you loved! Rest in Peace.

Dennis was always one of the most enjoyable people to fly with. I remember one flight we were working together. It was very busy and we were working Business Class, going from NRT to SEA. The passengers were especially demanding and it seems nothing we could do was enough to please them. They seem to complain about everything concering the meal and the wines we were serving. As Dennis passed me in the aisle he wispered in my ear, 'fine dinning'. I had to laugh then as it was so very funny. There is nothing fine about 'dinning' in the middle of the night at 40,000' in the 747 aircraft. Dennis always had a way to make everything easy again, even if it was with a laugh. I shall miss you Dennis and wish you God Speed to a better place.
