Obituary of Edith Wiona Wheeler

Our beloved “Gano” passed away peacefully on November 19, 2008. Born to Armilda and Robert Waller on June 24, 1922, she lived all her life in Tacoma. She graduated from Lincoln HS in 1940 and was a long standing member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Edith loved to travel with friends and family, was a member of PTA (Golden Acorn), a garden club, her long-standing weekly coffee group, and was a volunteer for Skyline Guild for the handicapped. She also worked as a cook’s helper for Tacoma Public Schools. She was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon and sisters Doris and Roberta. Edith is survived by her husband of 67 years David, sons Jerry (Joann), Bill (Thalia), and Rick (Teresa). Grandchildren: Wendy Jacobs (Anthony), Cari Wood (Jon), Jason Kanar (Darcy), Ryan, Jordan, Richard, Adam, Raleigh, Austin, and Emma. Great grandchildren: Mataina and Kaiden Kanar; and Bradi, and Riley Wood. Please join us for a celebration of Edith’s life at Wynwood of Allenmore, 3615 S 23rd on Sunday, 11/30/08 from 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice or a charity of your choice. Our family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Wynwood and Franciscan Hospice for all their exceptional care and kindness.
