He is survived by is mother and stepfather, Patricia and Robert Ferreira of Tacoma, a son, Zachary Bryan Henderson (Bethany) of Acme, WA, two grandchildren, Evan James and Tayler Ann, of Acme, WA, two sisters, Nancy Luker of Graham and Susan Coleman of Tacoma, one brother, Jeff Ferreira (Kelly) of Gig Harbor, several nephews, and his good friend, Momie of Acme, WA. Mark loved to sail. He spent many years sailing the waters of Puget Sound. He lived on Orcas Island for about seven or eight years where he worked in the boat yards, repairing and building boats. He also worked in La Conner and Seattle in boat yards at different times. When he wasn’t working on boats or sailing, he liked to make jewelry or read. He returned to the Tacoma area in October of 2000 after a severe illness that required brain surgery in June. He spent about two and a half months in the hospital at Harborview. It took him over a year to recover enough from this surgery to be able to go back to the boat that he loved so much; however, during that year, his wife died. He was only able to spend a few days at a time on the boat due to his health which slowly declined over the years until he was unable to stay there at all. He enjoyed the back yard at his parent’s home where he felt like he was in a little bit of paradise. The fish pond and waterfall gave him a tiny sense of the sailing waters he enjoyed so very much. His presence will be missed by those who cared about him. Memorial service will be July 29, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Hope Evangelical Community Church in Tacoma.
