Obituary of E. Miles Murphy

Born November 11, 1920 in Tacoma, Washington and passed away June 27, 2007 in Tacoma, WA. Miles was a lifelong resident of Tacoma and served in the US Army during WWII. He was a graduate of Stadium High School. He was a lifelong member of the Tacoma Elks BPOE #174. He was also a member of the Tacoma Junior Chamber of Commerce and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Miles' hobbies included operating a ham radio with the call sign K7ENS, working on the Mrs. B&I Hydroplane team, clam digging, and fishing at the Cowlitz Campground with his late wife Barbara J. Murphy. Miles is survived by his 2 sons, Timothy Murphy of Redmond, WA, Kelly (Debbie) Murphy of Spanaway, WA, stepson James Schuster (Teresa) of Orting, WA, and stepdaughter Judy Wilson (Gary) of Puyallup, WA; grand-children and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Vincent and Margaret Murphy, wife Barbara Murphy, brother Harold Murphy, son Mark Murphy, granddaughters Danielle Murphy, Tasha Murphy, April Wilson, and daughter-in-law Andra Murphy. Miles' family extends its profound appreciation to his special friend and neighbor Earl Salcido for the assistance, consideration and kindness he provided our father. Memorial service to be held 1:00 PM Friday, July 6, 2007 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3315 S. 19th St., Tacoma, WA 98405. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
