Obituary of Paul Vincent Duckwitz

Born June 5, 1941 in Tacoma, Washington to Vincent and Helen Willette Duckwitz. Paul passed away peacefully on March 23, 2007 after a brief battle with lung cancer. Please click on the link below to watch video tribute: http://videos.lifetributes.com/?id=8091 He attended Bellermine Prep and Lincoln High School before joining the U.S. Navy in 1959. He was stationed in Long Beach, CA on the U.S.S. Yorktown as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk. Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved flying, motorcycles, camping, guns, the mountains, the ocean, history, Alaska, cooking, and especially barbequing. Also, he never failed to stump friends on trivia. While raising his two children in Tacoma he worked for Milgard Manufacturing, Glass Doctor, and Speedy Auto Glass before retiring from Certainteed Mfg. Paul was a member of the Eagles Aerie #1, VFW 969, Morton Moose, and the American Legion. Paul is survived by his fiancée Fredda Vincent; daughter Dawn (Fred) Hines Jr.; son Darrin Duckwitz; step-daughter Paula (Matt) Epperson; and 10 grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his former wife, Myrnie (Foster) Duckwitz and granddaughter Anna Grace Hines. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. A very special thank you to his dedicated friends Linda Howell, Terry Carter, Frances Crews, Gary Cosgro, and Sam Watkins at Park Avenue Books.
