I just heard recently (2010) that Steve was gone. It was a shock. We had enjoyed many conversations together and he had encouraged me to help my husband apply for VA benefits. Without his advice it wouldn't have happened. It's good to know that he's with the Lord now and we'll meet again someday.

You loved me unconditionally and unselfishly for over 39 years of our marriage. What a gift from God! Although your physical heart was weak and failed you, your true heart was a thing of beauty and strength. In quiet ways you left your mark on the lives of many. How proud I am to say you were mine. You gave me two beautiful children who examplify so many of your finest characteristics. Did I ever thank you for them? Thank you for being such a great dad, wonderful husband and amazing man of God. I will be reaching for you when I too enter eternity. I love you Steve, Diana

Sorry to hear about your loss. Steve and I worked on various projects for the IT Department at the Shipyard. He spoke with pride about his family. He was friendly, humorous, and always had a story to tell. Although his is gone from your life, he will never be absent from your heart. May God's love and peace be with you.

I am very thankful to have had Steve as my father. I got to know him for exactly 37 years and he was not just my father but he was my best friend. I can still remember the days before I was old enough to attend school. My mom stayed home with my sister and I for a few years while daddy went off to work. He would come home around 4 or 5 oclock and we would come running to the door: Daddy, Daddy, Daddy! and he would come through the door with open arms. A few years later he took us to the beach. I would often make huge castles in the sand. One day some older kids kicked the sand at me for really no reason. Dad appeared almost out of no where like a super hero. He was restrained and did not put his hands on those kids but.. When I was a teen, I turned out for the school wrestling team which meant that I had to stay late for practice during the coldest darkest part of the winter. I did not have a care but he would certainly come looking for me to give me a ride home. When my sister and I grew older, we were able to keep a close loving relationship with Dad. Why? Not because we grew up instead he was a big kid at heart. Psalm 136 His mercy endures forever.

Having Steve in my life for 20-something years was a blessing, and to have him witness all the changes of my life was an honor. He had a way of blessing me with small things, in a big way. It's comforting to know he'll be in heaven, passing time with my father and grandfathers until I can join them when it's my time. Diana and family, you all are in my prayers and on my heart. I'm sorry I'm unable to attend the celebration of Steves life today. Those events are hard for me, but I will be thinking of Steve special today. Your friend, Chrissi

Our hearts are full as we think about Steve and his terrific personality. Getting that tap on the shoulder, looking around and see no one there. We pray that God covers you Diana, Francesca and Brett in the days ahead with a peace only He can give. We love you and miss you, especially now Steve. It is so amazing to know that he is with Him! With so much love, Larry, Nancy and Sam.

Steve is my best and closest friend. We shared many workplace hurdles together and supported each other when one or the other needed a boost to keep a chin up. We did often laugh together. Although for a while now we will not see each other, he remains my good friend who has generously given me many good memories. For now his tracks lead off beyond my sight, but I am confident that in my time I'll find him at the end if that track and he will be smiling with that glint in his eye. 'til then, Steve.

Francesca, Jim, Brett, Diana, A true man of God was ushered into the presence of his Savior last night. I will always remember how he cared about the needs of others and took no thought of his own pain. Steve has been a blessing to me and my family and we will miss him. But I know that the untold pleasures of heaven are not even to be compared to this earth and Steve is totally satisfied where he is right now. YOUR FAMILY is in our prayers and thoughts. Your friends, Love, Scott & Glennis & Family

I only worked with Steve for a short while but our many conversations, shared jokes, laughs and more made me feel that i have known him for so much longer. May your great memories, that i know you have, bring you comfort in knowing that God has called him home to remove him from his days of pain and sufferings. May God bless the entire family.

I'm glad I had a chance to have a simple lunch with Steve after his recent visit to St. Joes. Taking time to be with a friend like Steve is priceless. He would always speak his mind openly and honestly and for that I have the highest respect for him. Linda and I will miss his candidness and point of view that was always mixed with compassion. Steve did not just speak it but lived a true Christian life thinking of ways to help others and sacrificing many hours to do so. Diana,Brett, and Franki we love you and we share your loss and comfort knowing Steve is with God right now. Aloha we will be keeping in touch.

I knew Steve the longest of anyone in our workplace. He came to the department in about 1984. Immediately, you would notice his New England personality. Steve added life to the workplace and brighten up the day. If there was any excitement, it would be Steve. He was generous. If there was furniture to be moved, he would be the first to help out. He was kind-hearted. He was kind of a rebel, but he knew his limits. He was active in the union and stood up for the common worker. He took very seriously God, Nation, and his church. We will all miss Steve.
