Obituary of Joseph Dale Kistler

Joseph Dale Kistler, 66, passed away peacefully in his home in Puyallup, WA on February 19th, 2008. He was born in Aberdeen on June 23rd, 1941 to Pearl and Joe Kistler. He obtained a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Puget Sound in 1972 and was a school teacher at Central Avenue Elementary School his entire career until he retired in 1996. A jazz connoisseur, he was a fixture at jazz festivals region wide and known by all as "Uncle Joe." He was also known for being an excellent cook and trivia savant. He was very proud of his three children and loved spending time with his sister, nephew, and extended family in Aberdeen, WA. He is survived by his daughter Michelle ("Shelzy") and her two children, his son Bart and his two children, his son Karl, his "Sister Dear" Dolores, his nephew John, and his great nieces Tiffany and Heather. A graveside service will take place at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen, WA, at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 15th, immediately followed by a reception and memorial at the home of John and Lori Maki.
