Mike was my uncle and godfather. He was always so fun to be around. I'll never forget the time he took me to an amusement park or the time he took me to the toy store and told me to pick out whatever I wanted. He did the same with my daughter Leah while on a trip to NYC a few Christmases ago, we went to Fao Schwarz and Mike told Leah to pick out whatever she wanted. It was also great to have Mike and Deeann attend my wedding in St. Vincent. I'll miss him and always think of him as a model of how to live one's life: enjoying each day to the fullest. My deepest sympathy to Deeann and his many friends.

I was fortunate to get to know Mike through Mary nearly 30 years ago, and even more fortunate to spend time with him on a few occasions when he lived in California. His passions for food, wine, great conversation and making people laugh were infectious. I'll treasure the brief memories we shared, and offer sincere condolences to Mike's loved ones.

It is a tremendous loss. Mike was a great guitarist and good friend, in the Sub-Set and outside as well. For those who dont know, the Sub-Set was the band we played in from around late 1965 to early 1969 many high school dances, a few parties, and finally several NYC clubs. He was also one of the brightest guys Ive ever met, and had an EXTREMEMLY sharp wit. Maryann, youre right. He was concerned about family, and I know he was VERY fond of you. Mike was also exceedingly generous in many ways. I read, with a smile on my face, the note regarding Mikes attendance at the concert on the day of his discharge. Those of us who knew him from the band days would expect nothing less of him. Good dinner, fine wine and a wonderful concert. Be good Mike!

I really wish we had more time to talk and do things together.I remember you were the first person Jessica and I told we were getting married and that night was so nice. You loved life and will follow in your foot steps. I will never forget you and thank you being my uncle

I wish I had kept in touch after all of these years. My memories of playing and singing with you in the 'Sub-set' are always wonderful. I will enjoy a bottle of fine wine in your honor this weekend while I am away, wishing you were there. Life is too short and I wish you peace after your struggle. Bob Jockers

My sincerest sympathy to the Cevene family. My thoughts and prayers are with Mike and I will remember the times we spent enjoying what he loved (food & wine, but with the most important thing in mind...family & friends to share it with). Mike had a passion for life and we should all learn from him how to enjoy it as well as he did. He will be sorely missed!

My brother, Mike...I can't believe that I will never hear his voice again. He was always concerned for myself and our mother. He would call to see how we were doing and I went on and on, and he never once stopped me to tell me about any problems he might have. He will be forever in my heart. I love you Mike...yesterday, today, and always. Till we meet again...

I grew up with Mike in New York and he was the best friend a guy could have. We played in the same rock band and we shared many laughs and fun times together. May you rest in peace my friend, Bob

DeeAne I am so sorry to hear the news. Mike was a great friend you could always count on him. He had great spirit and sense of humor. We worked together for a long time and he was great at what he did, but I will miss all the nights at the games A's, Giants, 49ers or the bar and the bowling league at vanstar. Mike made every event or party better. I could probably share 50 funny Cevene stories but I am sure every one that knew him would be able to too. While its a sad day I do not think there are to many people who enjoyed life as much as Mike.

I was very sad to learn that of Michael's death. I enjoyed getting to know him while he was a patient here at Group Health and found him to be a very intelligent person with a love of music that was beyond anyone I have ever met. I still remember that he attended a concert the day he was discharged from the hospital and that isn't what I typically hear from my patients. Michael seemed to live life to the fullest and he was a true inspiration. I hope that you know that although, I knew him for just a short time, he did touch my heart and I will not forget him. Kay C. McManemy, RN.
