After a year long battle with cancer, Nancy Stewart passed away January 30th, peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family. Nancy grew up in the North End of Tacoma, and moved to University Place with her husband Jim in 1968. A devout Catholic, she attended Aquinas High School, graduating in 1960 and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo church. Nancy enjoyed her career, working for Weyerhaeuser for 35 years. She was also a member of Tacoma Outboard Association and Day Island Yacht Club.
Nancy loved to read and sew; A passion which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Her family was very important to her and she leaves behind countless happy memories with family and friends. Her determination, strength, and generosity were an inspiration to all who knew her. She is terribly missed.
Nancy is survived by her husband James, daughters Erin Alexander, Heather Stewart, and son Blake Stewart. She is also survived by son-in-law Paul Alexander, daughter-in-law Heather Stewart, and grandchildren Emma Alexander, Laney Alexander, and soon to be born, Makenzie Stewart.
The family’s deepest gratitude goes out to Dr. Yi and his staff at St. Josephs and the staff at the Franciscan Hospice House.
The service will be held on Tuesday February 12th at St. Charles Borromeo at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to the Franciscan Hospice House in Nancy's name.
