Obituary of Geraldine Evelyn Sawyer

Our beloved sister, aunt, and friend passed away on November 5th, after a very brief battle with Leukemia. Gerry was a devoted nurse for over forty years. She graduated from Stadium High School, Tacoma General School of Nursing, the University of Washington, and earned her Masters degree from the University of Oregon. She helped open the original Mary Bridge Hospital and Lakewood General Hospital. She retired in the early ‘90’s after thirty years of dedicated service at Western State Hospital. Gerry was a kind and generous person to everyone she knew. She was a loving caregiver to all. Gerry was preceded in death by her loving husband Dick. She is survived by her brother Buzz D’Olivo, niece, Kathy (Dave) Swisher, nephews, Doug (Jill) D’Olivo and Ron D’Olivo, Great nieces and nephew, Amy, Emily, Kate and Kevin. The family thanks the staff at Hospice House for their kindness and care. A memorial service will be held at St. John Bosco Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 10th, at 11:00.
