Obituary of Patricia Katherine Fuhlman

Patricia (Pat) Fuhlman who passed away on June 8, 2008 was born in Cle Elum, Washington on April 25th, 1931 to Sylvester and Katherine (Biddle) Stenson (later remarried with last name of Hammerstrom). Pat’s father worked for the railroad and passed away early in 1940. Pat’s brother Michael passed away at the age of 15 with a brain aneurysm. Pat and the only other sibling, her sister Margaret (Petie), attended Catholic School in Tacoma (Mary Mount). Pat enjoyed working with people. She worked as a waitress for a restaurant in Tacoma (Mannings) and as a baker for a grocery chain (Piggly-Wiggly/Albertsons). Her mother remarried a wonderful man, Paul Hammerstrom, who became the father she didn’t have. In her younger days, she enjoyed dancing, water skiing (though she couldn’t swim) and playing baseball. Later in life, she was a wonderful baker, avid reader (mainly mysteries like Agatha Christy), getting MOJO fever with her favorite Seattle baseball team and spending time with her family. Pat was married twice and is survived by her four sons and their families; James (Mike) Taylor (and his girlfriend Lorie Hobert), Mark Taylor, Jay Taylor (and Linda Taylor) and Rob Fuhlman (and Sue Fuhlman). Pat lived in Tacoma for many years before moving to Yelm in the 70’s. In Yelm, she lived in a community called Nisqually Pines and lived above the Nisqually river. In the 80’s, she worked for Gordon’s Nursery and into the 90’s she assisted in the kitchen with baking and other odd jobs for Jenne’s Bar & Grill (formerly the Stop Inn). In 2000, she moved to Puyallup to be closer to family. Pat was predeceased by both her father’s, her mother, her sister and brother (and both her husbands). She will be missed by her sons, their families including many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and various friends. Our mother requested no memorial service. In lieu of flowers or donations, please take a moment to remember her with a story and create a new one of your own with a loved one – It’s what she would want… Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008
