Today would have been your 60th birthday. Whether it is a holiday, a birthday, or simply a 'Monday,' we always celebrated our togetherness with food that I carefully prepared. Of course, we also debated who's wine is better! Today is no exception. Fresh evergreens and red flowers adorn your headstone. Prime rib for dinner. And I raise my glass for a toast to celebrate you.

Stanly T. Godyn Sr. was an original. With his thick Chicagoan accent and a history rooted in tradition. I have never met anyone like him and I am positive I never will again. I hope that our recollection of his presence in this life will give his granddaughter even a glimpse into what a character he was; he was so proud to be her grandpa, always trying to get into her good graces. He was a proud fisherman, an avid photographer, and an incredibly patriotic Veteran who believed in the draft and felt all American men should serve in the military so they would have true appreciation for their country. One of his daughters said to me ' There were only two things that made my dad emotional, one was the military and the other was his kids.' All of his Children were first generation College Graduates and much of that was due to their fathers intense sometimes overbearing focus on education. He was incredibly proud and that pride was unconditional. In closing I would like to state my appreciation for his life. It is directly because of who he was, That my husband is who he is. I am so grateful to have fallen in love with his son, and for the values that he instilled in his children that will in turn be passed on to ours. He has left an amazing legacy. Thank you, 'Dad' I am proud to be apart of your family tree.
