Obituary of Jeffrey Wayne Shaw

Jeffrey Wayne Shaw died unexpectedly on December 13, 2015 in Tacoma, Washington at the age of 33. Jeff is survived by his parents, Jeanne Griffin and Stephen Shaw; his step-parents, Ann Richardson-Shaw and John Griffin; his son, Ty Alexander Shaw; sister, Carley Shaw; his girlfriend, Tesha Matteson and her daughter Kaleigha Matteson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his cousin SSG Casey Crate, and both his maternal & paternal grandparents. Jeff was born on November 10th, 1982 in Tacoma, Washington to Stephen & Jeanne Shaw. He attended Curtis High School in University Place, Washington. Those who knew Jeff will remember him as charismatic and entertaining, with a smile that could light up a stadium. Jeff was extremely likeable and had an uncanny affinity for fitting in with anyone he met. Jeff was an avid basketball player and often spent his free time on the court with friends. He loved to both watch and play baseball. Jeff was a lifetime fan of the Seahawks; his love for the team was passed down to his son. Jeff had a proclivity for spontaneity, which afforded him some incredible opportunities—but also got him into trouble on occasion. Jeff could make anyone laugh, but struggled to find his own happiness. As a result, he struggled with chemical dependency. It was this struggle that ultimately led to the confrontation that tragically removed his light from this world. A celebration of life is scheduled from 1pm to 4pm, on January 9th at AM Vets Post #1 5717 S. Tyler St., Tacoma, WA 98409. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jeff's life. Due to the sudden nature of Jeff’s passing, his family is left with the unexpected expense of burial services; therefore, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/f9eqk7z6.
