Obituary of Beverly Winther

Beloved Wife of Arlie and caring and loving Mother of Connie and Darrell and Grandchildren Andrew and Ashlee, was called to her Heavenly Home on December 22, 2005. following a short illness. Beverly was born on May 2, 1932 in Braddock, North Dakota to her proud parents Benjamin E. and Adella L. (Buchholz) Thompson. Her early childhood was spent in North Dakota until the outbreak of World War II when, following her Father’s entering the military in 1943, her family relocated to Miles City, Montana. Beverly attended Miles City schools graduating from Custer County High School in 1950. Beverly and Arlie were married on May 17th, 1952 and were blessed with two beautiful children, Connie and Darrell. In 1959 the Winthers moved to Tacoma, Wa. so that Connie could attend schools offering classes in special education. It was at this time that Beverly began work with the Tacoma School District where she remained for the following 32 years. Beverly and her family were life long members of Good Shepherd Church where she served faithfully as the secretary of the church board for 12 years. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Educational Employees Credit Union (later renamed Rainier Pacific) for about 18 years and served as Chairman of the Board for the period of 1987-1992, Past President of the Administrative Women in Education, Past President of the Tacoma Club of Zonta International and Board Member and Secretary of the Teachers Retirement Center. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her two brothers, Benjamin and Kenneth, her wonderful Daughter-in-law Juli, her Sisters-in-law Kay and Casey along with many loving nieces and nephews and other family members. Beverly was preceded in death by her Mother in July of 1992 and her beloved Son Darrell, in December of this year. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, December 30th, at 2:00 PM, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 140 East 56th Street, Tacoma, Wa.
