Obituary of Barbara M. Dennis

Barbara left behind a full and meaningful life on June 1st, 2006 at Hospice House in University Place, WA after a long struggle with osteoporosis. Please click on the link below to view video tribute: http://videos.lifetributes.com/?id=3763 Known to all her loved ones as “Bobby”, she had a deep impact on all who knew her. Barbara was born on October 24th, 1928 in King County Washington, the second youngest of thirteen children. Happily married to Carson (Kit) Dennis on April 29th, 1949 until Kit left us in 1985. Bobby and Kit had three sons: Craig, Daniel and Brian. Bobby loved the outdoors: camping, fishing trips, motor home travel, the Lake Tyee property; and none of these activities would be complete without hours spent preparing an elaborate meal for her loved ones and any lucky Chipmunks that happened to be within range. This love defined her life and was passed on to all of her children and grandchildren. She had her prankster side as well, from the trick spoon she pulled out at every opportunity possible to “trailblazing” in the golf cart; life was never boring when she was around. Family was a very important part of her life. The Dorning Family Picnic was an event she looked forward to every year; and her own family dinners and regular bbq’s, rain or shine, were her favorite times. Barbara had many hobbies she loved when she was taking a break from the outdoors or her family parties. Her cooking was legendary. She also enjoyed her soaps, cards, crochet, and even grew to love golf, which she attempted to teach her grandchildren. Barbara left behind a full and meaningful life on June 1st, 2006 at Hospice House in University Place, WA after a long struggle with osteoporosis. Bobby leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons, Craig, Daniel, and Brian; 9 grandchildren, Weston, Melissa, Michael, David, Katie, Jessica, Eric, Carson, and Jason, 6 great grandchildren; numerous brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank Franciscan Hospice House for their compassionate care of their mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466; or the American Red Cross. There will be a memorial to celebrate her life 1 PM Friday, June 9, 2006 at Lakeview Congregational Chapel, 4606 108th St. SW, Lakewood, WA. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008.
