I first met Andy and Gretchen in the early 80's when they moved to El Paso, TX. I had the pleasure of working with Andy for several years at the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC). Andy was great to work with. He was totally dedicated to the mission at hand. He was a mentor to his fellow officers at EPIC. Some of my fondest memories of Andy were the many rounds of golf we played at Santa Teresa Country Club. Those were great golf outings except for the fact that Andy always beat me by at least 10 strokes. He was very patient to put up with such a lousy golfer as myself. Andy was truly a kind and gentle man, with always an inviting smile. He was a wonderful and caring husband and father. Gretchen, Erin and Sarah: Let the fond memories of Adny console you during these difficult times. God bless you all. Are prayers are with you. Jack Bax, DEA/SA/Ret.

I had the pleasure to meet Andy when he returned to WA state to head up the Tacoma DEA office. I tried to get down there from Seattle to work for him, but it was not to be. Andy was a gentleman and the consumate professional. It was always a pleasure to chat with him and discuss his adventures and experiences in Europe. Knowing him was a gift. God bless you all and may he finally rest in peace.

For nearly 40 years, Andy was my handsome, dapper, fun-loving brother-in-law, since he stole my sister Gretchen's heart away. We enjoyed many happy visits, especially memorable being the creative & often hilarious after dinner entertainments our 5 young children would offer to the four of us parents. I came to appreciate Andy's courage in facing his life's challenges of being wounded in duty; moving for European DEA duty; surviving cancer once; losing his parents; choosing early retirement for his well-being; & finally dying with dignity, patience, acceptance & a sense of responsibility towards unfinished business. I trust he was deeply aware of the Sacred Presence of God & the supportive love which surrounded him to the end from Gretchen, Sarah, Michael & Ronan, Erin, Ransom & Ruby, his sisters Suzanne & Christine, a host of friends, & hospice, which allowed him the precious gift of dying in his own home. To you closest onces grieving his loss, I offer this Celtic blessing: Deep peace of the running wave to you; Deep peace of the flowing air to you; Deep peace of the shining stars to you; Deep peace of the quiet earth to you; Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you.

In 1972, barely out of the King County Police Academy, I was fortunate to be partnered with Andy (whom I remembered from high school) in the D.A.L.E. Task Force. Andy was always the professional; always teaching, always listening, always with a smile. I will never forget that horrible afternoon in that dingy apartment hallway when everything went so terribly wrong and Andy was shot! With his positive outlook and his familys support I think he actually recovered faster and better than I did. Our careers went their separate ways but we managed to stay in touch. Years later while traveling in Europe, Andy and Gretchen welcomed us into their home in Frankfurt as though no time had elapsed. Phone calls and emails over the years and then we finally reconnected just this past fall. Then that call with Andy telling me that his cancer had returned with an unforgiving vengeance. I feel very privileged to have been able to spend even a few precious hours with Andy during his last weeks: reminiscing and even telling a lie or two. Andy still had his infectious smile and positive attitude, even speculating about the odds of him celebrating his approaching 60th birthday. He spoke of his gratitude for having been given a second chance at living such a fruitful life and of being blessed with a wonderful loving family. The world was a happier and better place with Andys presence and everyone who knew him will always be so because of him.

I met Andy during a tour at EPIC and found him to be the consumate dedicated professional, 'cloked' with a great sense of humor. (He also made great smoked salmon.) I have become a better person having briefly known Andy.

When I think of Andy I cant help thinking about the pretty little boy of about 5 or so who was entered into a beauty contest by his mother, my aunt Mundy. If memory serves me correct, I believe he won it. ( No doubt he WAS a good looking guy, even as a baby. I know the LORD will want a good looking guy like you in heaven. God speed and may the LORD bless you and your family.

I am standing on the seashore. A ship spreads her sails to the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. I stand watching her until she fades over the horizon, and someone at my side says, 'She is gone!' Gone where? The loss of sight is in ME, not in HER. Just at the moment when someone says, 'She is gone', there are others who are watching her coming. Those voices take up the glad shout, 'Here she comes!' And that is DYING THE VOYAGE/Phyllis Mayer Thank you to Andy's ladies who let me share those last morning breezes while taking care of Andy so beautifully. They are my heroes.

Andy Cloke, the talented, consumate professional, man of deep faith, my partner and long-time friend. It all started at WAZZU(WSU) and later, as partners in DEA, a life-long friendship developed. I couldn't BEGIN to say it all here but I'll give it my very best at the memorial service. I was so blessed to have had you as a friend and partner. I'll miss you man. You were the cream. My love and thoughts to Gretchen and 'the girls'.

As part of the DEA family, I had the privilege of playing golf with Andy a couple times when he was here visiting Mike Walker, another fallen comrade. Although my acquaintance with Andy was brief, it remains a fond memory. May God rest his soul. Bob Nutting

Although we were not close, Andy was a long time friend and fellow DEA Agent. I always had the utmost respect for him as a person and as a law enforcement professional. The world is a better place as a result of the effect Andy had upon it. My sincere condolences to his wife Gretchen, and to the rest of his family.

I am sad that Andy was taken so young, but grateful he did not have prolonged suffering, and that his grandchildren got to know him. I am not surprised at any accolades he received during his career. I worked wtih him from his first days with King County, and there was not a more professional, presentable officer on the department, and I was sorry to see him leave. I didn't know he had musical talents. It would have been fun to perform with him. I was a music major in college before entering law enforcement, and went back to performing shortly before retirement. God Bless,Andy and receive you in his grace, and strengthen your family.
