I had to come in here and say that Mike appeared to sometimes be a grinch, but that was an act. He loved Christmas, especially finding quirky little ornaments - and we all loved to give him off-the-wall stuff, as well. I really miss him!I just hope where he is he's having a drink and kicking butt at cribbage!

Mike chose his words carefully and he could put mmore meaning into two words than most of us can put into two sentences. One morning he told me of a gathering he attended and how one woman stood out in the crowd. Mike said 'She was only wearing a knit dress....and shoes'. Those two words painted a complete picture i

Dear Family, I was so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. My deepest sympathies are with you all. I really did not know him that well. I was good friend's with Helen but he always appeared to be a big, caring brother. I wish I could have known him better. God bless each of you especially now and in the coming months. Joanne

I would just like to tell everyone how much I appreciate all the kind and fun things you have said in this guest book. He was truly a man who walked his own path and I am so happy we all respected that about him. I want to thank Edwards Memorial, also, for providing this space for family and friends to share and grieve together. It is a way to keep his spirit alive in us all. Thank you!

It has taken me awhile to write this because Mike was my closest cousin and a good friend and what do you say. I will miss you and our cribbage games and Hawaii and just BS-ing together. After moving back into the area I had hoped we would get to see a lot more of each other but it was not to be. Maybe later. See you in Maui.

Debby, Helen, Lisa & Scott, I was so saddened to hear of Mike's death. My condolences to you. I think back to all the good memories I have of our times together. Back to high school when Ron introduced me to his 'cuz Mike' who went to Lincoln. Fun (wild) parties, playing cards, board games & good music. Mike put peanut butter on just about everyting he ate, including meat loaf. Mike & Debby's Christmas card was always the first to arrive. A birthday card would arrive on the day of my birthday and I loved getting his fun post cards from Maui. I am sorry that I did not know Mike was so ill. I thought he was OK after his first treatments. He will be Missed.

I wish I could have spent more time with Mike while I was growing up. What a great guy! I remember being at his party back in the summer of 98' and having an absolute blast. Thinking to myself, what a cool Dude! And how fortunate I was to have such a wonderful (hip) family. Mike and I also spent some quality time at his party in 2001. Mike, as I write this I am couple hours away from catching the red eye to Miami. Taking a cruise to the Caribbean. I'll have a beverage for the both of us - I'll miss you NS

Mike and I were cousins and did not know each other until the last 10 or 12 years. I spent many hours listening to Mike expound about his beliefs and enjoyed every second of them. Debbie and Mike always made us feel like treasured friends and not just relitives. I did some work on Nuffsed for Mike and Debbie so they could enjoy the car without worry, along with 'Cuz' Ron. I recieved a lot of pleasure seeing how much pride Mike took in owning his 38 Buick. Bunnie & I will miss you big guy. But we know you are up there with Ron Sweeney and the other hot rodders of our time. Nuffsed, Ken

I met Mike, around 1959/60,at Linclon High School. We were in several classes together to include drafting, choir and boy's Glee. We became good friends from that time on. One of the favorite songs we learned from Boy's Glee was Cannibal Island. Often when I think of Mike that tune comes to mind and shall come to mind when I think of Mike as long as I'm still around. On many weekends, during high school, we spent time at my dad's body Shop, Clark's Body & Fender, located at 9404 South Tacoma Way. This location is now occupied by Pierce Transit. Maybe this is what sparked Mike's interest in working on 'old cars'? Besides many memories of antics surronding activites in Boy's Glee the main memory I shall retain concerns the Christmas season. Mike's Christmas card was 'always' the first to be received as well as a hot-rod theme so I was alerted that the season was upon us. Thanks for the memories. John

Debbie, Sorry for your loss. I've known Mike for 34 years, all my working life at Boeing and beyond. He was a good friend and I enjoyed spending time with him when I could. I'll miss his sense of humor, wild parties and great advice. With much love and sorrow, Chris Burmeister

Just stopping by to say I missed my insulting card this month on my birthday. The one addressed to Helen Arnestad Wallace Berntsen Wallace Arnestad. His sly and subtle way of reminding me of my 2 marriages and the names along the way. Hope the temperature is stable where you are, Mike, and about 65 to 70 degrees. Too hot this summer for you. Miss you lots. Love, Sis

Happy Birthday, Mike! We all miss you so much! Saw all my kids today and they all mentioned your birthday and all of the fun things you did for them on theirs. You know, I don't think you ever knew what a positive force you were in their lives - and we wish you were here to tell you in person. Love you lots. Have a tall one for us - Aloha!
