Obituary of Anthony Peter Melcher
Anthony Peter Melcher, b. 6 July 1961, Frankfurt, Germany, d. Feb., 2009, Bonney Lake, Washington
Peter was the adopted son of Lt. Col. John F. Melcher and Mary Jane Mercer Melcher, both deceased, and is survived by 5 siblings, a wife and a son. Peter was ‘Peter’ to his family, but ‘Tony’ once he entered Central Washington University and the US Air Force Reserves. He wanted to fly, but couldn’t because of a football injury in high school.
Peter, because of his father’s profession, grew up in many different places both in Germany and the US. His Father retired in Washington State because it was most like, in climate and topography, the land of his birth. Besides, Washington rampantly grew blackberries, which Peter loved. He would excuse himself to his Mother for being late biking home from school by saying that he’d “smelled” blackberries and had to stop to eat them.
Peter was an electrician and took great pride in his work. His surviving wife is a construction heavy equipment operator who also took great pride in her work. They were both chronically alcoholic.
Peter was also diabetic, suffered from diabetic neuropathy in his feet, and often fell because of all of those conditions. His death was accidental, the result of blunt force trauma to his head caused by an ultimate fall.
Anthony Peter Melcher was tremendously loved by his family and friends
We had hope. Now we know that Peter has peace.
