Obituary of Florence Marie Piper

Florence passed away quietly at the age of 86 from a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Tacoma and attended Visitation Catholic School where she later married her husband James D. Piper 8/1/1941. She later retired after 41 years of service at North Star Glove Co and volunteered regularly at the Tacoma Humane Society. Florence is survived by her two daughters, Caryn L.(Harold) Steenbergen, Mary Jo (Mark) Mascho; sister, Elly Curtright; brother, Bernard Klewin; five grandchildren, Sgt. Lisa M. Beck USMC, Marshall D. Beck, Marleen D. Lucas, Donna J. Hinkley, Jennifer M. Oster; eight great-grandchildren; and special friend Marilyn Ruston. Memorial Mass to be held 11:00 AM Monday 2/11 at Visitation Catholic Church, 3314 S. 58th St., Tacoma, WA 98409. Inurnment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Multicare Hospice or The Humane Society. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008.
