Obituary of Carol Ann Gorman

Gig Harbor mourns the loss of a beautiful citizen. Carol Ann Gorman passed away on Sunday, April 15th at the Franciscan Hospice House in University Place. Carol’s loving family includes her husband Bill of 47 years; her children Geoff (Mary), Victoria (Daniel) and Christopher (Anna); and her pride and joy grandchildren Cole, Max and baby Alexandria. She also leaves countless extended family members and hundreds of friends. Carol was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana to Fred and Annette LeBoeuf, the youngest of seven children. The parents packed up Lorraine, Bud, Kenny, Fay, Maryann, Lee and Carol and immigrated to the Northwest when Carol was seven-years-old. Vancouver, Washington was home throughout her childhood years. While in college she fell in love with a skinny guy named Bill, got married and moved to California. They started their family with the birth of Geoff and returned to Vancouver where Vikkie and Chris were born. The family had the opportunity to live in France during 1969 as a special work assignment for Alcoa (Bill’s employer). After the kids were grown, Bill was recruited to work for Milgard in 1988. Carol and Bill settled in Gig Harbor and quickly became immersed in volunteer and social activities. Carol was a reliable volunteer in the Chamber of Commerce, the Visitors Center, the Navy League and her beloved Historical Society. She was very much looking forward to the opening of the new museum. Throughout her life Carol also worked in retail, bookkeeping and office management. Carol was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She was also a fabulous cook and loved to entertain. Even as she was in her final days she was thinking of entertaining loved ones at her own memorial. She instructed her family to have a party to celebrate her life, rather than a sad funeral. And she insisted that Bill pay for everything. She had a great sense of humor….to the end. We miss her terribly. Thank you to the many friends and family who showed their love and support throughout Carol’s illness. It was amazing to realize there were so many people who loved her. A special thanks to Steve and Linda McCormick for their direct support of Bill and the family. We could not have done it without you. Also, a special thanks to Harald and Kelly Schoeppner who went beyond the standard medical support. You were a wonderful comfort to Bill and Carol. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at the home of Geoff and Mary Gorman on Saturday, May 5th at 3pm. Friends are welcome to join the family at 6608 94th St Ct NW, Gig Harbor .
