Obituary of Dale James Peterson

Dale, 71, was born December 18, 1934 in Bismarck, ND of parents Gilbert E and Martha E (Matson) Peterson. During WWII, the family moved to WA State where he grew up in the Port Orchard area. Dale joined the USAF in 1952 where he served on stateside bases; remote tours to Alaska, Korea, and on Johnston Island. He was honorably discharged after 21 years of service. He then went to work for Ford Motor Co and retired after 17 years as a Computer Technologist. In 1990 he and his wife Jeanne retired to Port Angeles. He was a good husband and devoted father actively involved in and proud of his children’s lives. He greatly enjoyed the out of doors by fishing, hunting, crabbing, clamming, hiking and Scuba diving. He also was an enthusiastic card player and enjoyed lapidary work. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jeanne; brother Earl (wife Peggy); sons Gary A. (wife Nannette) of Norman, OK; David C. (wife Allison) of Long Branch, NJ; and daughter Kathryn J. (husband Dan Iacovoni) of Rockford, MI and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Dominic and Angelina; many nieces, nephews and a few cousins. Dale was preceded in death by brothers Gerald of Riverside, WA; Gilbert of Fairfield, CA; four half brothers; and a half sister. The family offers grateful appreciation to his doctors, hospitals, caregivers, friends and neighbors who all helped in so many ways. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
