Obituary of Arlie C. Winther

Passed away August 26, 2007 at Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community, Tacoma, Washington. Arlie was born in Dagmar, Montana to Anton and Margrethe Winther. Graduated from Medecine Lake High School in 1944. After high school Arlie spent two years in the military service and then moved to Miles City, Montana where he was employed as a manager of the grain elevators. He married Beverly Thompson and moved to Tacoma, Washinton in 1958. In 1960 he went to work as a draftsman for the Corp of Engineers of Seattle, Washington. One of his main projects was the designing and drwing ot the Libby Dam in Libby, Montana. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly and son Darrell who both passed away in December of 2005. He is survived by his daughter Connie, two grandchildren Ashley and Andrew, their mother Julie Winther, one brother Earl Winther, and three sisters: Erlis Kleeman, Betty James, and Gladys York. A memorial with military honor guards will be held at the Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community, Tacoma Washington, on September 12, 2007 at 11:00 A.M.. No flowers please. All donations to be sent to the Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way, West University Place, Washington 98466 Arlie’s Remains will be placed at Tahoma National Cemetery, next to his wife Beverly. Following the service, a luncheon will be served. All are welcome Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008.
