We all had a chance to tell her we loved and would miss her, and she was smiling as she slipped deeper into her sleep. Gay was the first female contractor in Solano County, owning and operating Solano Construction Company in Vacaville for 30 years. Her son, Glenn J DeVries took over the reins in 2003, and moved the company to its present location in Winters when Gay retired and moved to her beloved Puget Sound. Survived by her daughter, Kathaleen Marie Lovell of Winters, daughter Geri Lynn Rasmussen of Tacoma, WA, and son Glenn Jay De Vries of Winters. Grandmother of 12, great-grandmother of 1, she was predeceased by her parents, Gabrielle and Forrest Brown, and one brother Gilbert Brown. She also leaves behind one sister, Elaine Matsumoto of Scappoose, OR, and one brother, William Paul Brown of Santa Rosa, CA. Known as Arnie to her family and friends she will also be greatly missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She touched many lives, both personally and professionally and we would like to invite all those that wish to laugh and share memories to join us at her memorial celebration. Her remains are to be cremated at Edwards Memorial Center, Tacoma WA and her ashes will be spread in all her favorite places throughout the world. The Celebration of Life Memorial is planned for October 11th, 6-9 pm at the Buckhorn De Vilbiss Room, 12 Main St., Winters, CA. Appetizers, bar, and a video tribute are planned. Those who wish to attend should please bring a written story or photo to include in a memorial book we would like to create to honor this wonderful mother, businesswoman and friend.
