Obituary of Dora Louise Coblentz

Dora "Dottie" Coblentz was born to Dora and JT Binford in South Bend, WA on December 15, 1927 and died November 26, 2008 at her daughter's home in Tacoma, WA surrounded by her family and friends. Mom was raised as a young girl in the Grayland, WA area. Her family moved to Tacoma (Salmon Beach) where she attended Stadium High School. Mom raised her family in Tacoma where she spent many summers driving across the US with her five children. She worked as a waitress at Lindy's and The Poodle Dog. After her retirement, she spent many summers touring Alaska. A must was digging and canning hundreds of razor clams at Ninilchik. (Her clam bake was a family favorite.) Mom was fortunate to travel all over the world and spent many winters in Lake Havasu, AZ. Mom loved gardening, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, bowling, cooking for her family, hiking (especially in the Olympics), camping and digging razor clams. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was such a generous, giving and caring person. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands John Karney and Richard Coblentz, sister Virginia, brother Paul, sons Richard and Mike. She also was preceded in death by her friend and companion Dudley Stair, Jr. She is survived by her children Robert (Vicki), James (Yvonne), Karen (Harry), grandchildren Krista (Josh), Jason, Kathryn (Bryan), Monika, Kristine, Angie and Harry, Jr., great-grandchildren Dylan and Aiden, bother James (Irish) Binford, the Stair family and many other friends. At her request, there will be no services. Donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, WA 98446.
