Wilby Keiland Casey

Wilby Keiland Casey was born March 29, 1937 in Cleveland Oklahoma to Sherman Henry Casey and Margaret Nela Cummings. Wilby passed away Wednesday February 19th 2020 in Tacoma, Washington at age 82.

Wilby was survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ellen Charleen Casey, his two sons, Daniel and Alan, Daughter in law Arleen, Sister Thema and Brother-in-law Chandice Johnson, Nephew Steve Johnson, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerus extended family and friends.

Wilby graduated from Cleveland High School in 1955. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University Shawnee, Oklahoma and Southwest Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Wilby pastored while attending OBU on Indian reservation in Osage County, Oklahoma. Pastored a mission in Wentzville, Missouri that constituted into First Baptist Church. He pastored churches in Gene Autry, Oklahoma, First Baptist Church Leavenworth, Washington, First Baptist Church Birch Tree, Missouri, and Highland Hill Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington.

Wilby became interested in the chaplain ministry while pastoring at Wentzville, Missouri. He felt God calling him into full time chaplaincy in 1986 when he became chaplain for the Tacoma Fire Department.

Wilby loved the congregations he pastored and the Tacoma Fire Department that he served for many years. Wilby liked to fish especially in his younger years in the Arkansas River, lakes and ponds; then later in the Pacific Ocean whenever he got the opportunity. He loved his family and traveled with Charleen to visit Daniel and his family in Alaska, sister and brother in law in Fargo, North Dakota. Made numerous trips to visit relatives in Oklahoma and several trips to Reno and Las Vegas to relax and have fun.

Services for Wilby are being held at 11 am on Saturday February 29th 2020 at First Baptist Church 5400 112th St SW, Lakewood, Washington 98499.
